Mr. Murray is currently the Associate Dean; Undergraduate Studies, University Advising Services at Florida Atlantic University. Previously, Mr. Murray served as the Director for Academic Advising and Retention Services at Miami (OH) University’s Hamilton Campus for 22 years. He earned both a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from Purdue University. Mr. Murray works tirelessly to help students who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education. He has helped to develop and refine the Appreciative Advising Inventory and has been part of a national task force aimed at advancing the concept of Appreciative Advising. Mr. Murray is co-founder and board member of Florida Reach, a statewide organization that addresses recruitment and retention of emancipated foster youth in Florida’s higher education system. Prior to relocating to Florida, Mr. Murray was co-founder and board member of Ohio Reach and was instrumental in obtaining a $1,000,000 grant from the Ohio Attorney General for Ohio Reach initiatives. He served as the co-chair of the First-Generation College Student Interest Group for the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) from 2007 until 2012.
