Michael Gauci

Treasurer

Michael J. Gauci, CPA is President of Gauci Accounting Services, P.A. in Parkland, Florida, providing accounting, tax, and assurance services to small businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and individuals. Michael is also an Accounting Instructor at Florida Atlantic University (“FAU”), with a teaching interest in Governmental and Not-for-Profit Accounting. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Long Island University (“LIU”) in 1995 and a Master of Taxation from FAU in 2000. Upon graduation from LIU, Michael began work as an external auditor with KPMG in New York, where he gained extensive experience learning about business operations. After five years with KPMG, Michael went on to work as an Audit Director for a couple of regional CPA firms in South Florida, which is when he started to get exposure to local governments and not-for-profits. From there, Michael dedicated his time in the public sector, spending five years as the Accounting Director for the SunPass division in the Florida Department of Transportation and another five years as the Internal Auditor for the City of Boca Raton. Since 2012, Michael has concentrated his efforts on operating his CPA practice and faculty responsibilities at FAU. With over 30 years of experience in both public and private sectors, Michael is a seasoned professional specializing in financial management, strategic planning, and operations analysis. His expertise extends across accounting oversight, budgeting, customer service, and organizational change.

His extensive involvement in committees, both at the university and professional levels, highlights his dedication to education and professional development. Michael has presented at various conferences and events, sharing insights on career paths for students. In addition to extensive committee work at FAU, Michael’s volunteer service includes Champions Empowering Champions Treasurer, 2024 – present; Ambulation for All Treasurer, 2023 – present; Florida Government Finance Officers Association Professional Development Committee member, 2009 – present; Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (“FICPA”), Accounting Careers and Education Committee member, 2014 – present; FICPA State and Local Government Committee member, 2018 – 2019; Broward County Public School District Audit Committee member, 2020 – 2021; Town Parc at Miralago Homeowners’ Association Treasurer, 2017 – 2018; and the City of Boca Raton Executive Pension Board member, 2011 – 2012.
