Kimberly Dunn, Ph.D.

Dr. Dunn joined Florida Atlantic University in 2001 and currently serves as Faculty Senate President, Trustee, and Associate Professor in the School of Accounting. She is a graduate of University of Alabama-Huntsville (B.S. in Business Administration); University of Alabama (Master of Accountancy); and Georgia State University (Ph.D. in Business Administration). Dr. Dunn served as Director of the School of Accounting, Director of the Accounting Scholars Program, Faculty Advisor to Beta Alpha Psi, and NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative. As the first Director of the Accounting Scholars Program, she established a sustainable external funding model and created a program that has achieved 100% job placement for its graduates since its inception. Dr. Dunn was awarded the Beta Alpha Psi Teaching Excellence Award, Alumni Association Degree of Difference Award, Student Organization Advisor of the Year, College of Business Distinguished Teacher of the Year, Stewart Distinguished Professorship, College of Business Master Teacher, Faculty Talon Award, and Conference-USA Student Athlete Advisory Committee Choice Award. Her primary teaching and research interests are in financial accounting and she has numerous publications in highly ranked academic journals. She was recently ranked 41st in the nation for her publications in accounting education research. Dr. Dunn is a first-generation college graduate who was temporarily placed in the Alabama foster care system as a child. Dr. Dunn and her husband have two sons who were previously in the Florida foster care system. Her personal and professional experiences, knowledge of the educational systems, ability to inspire students from diverse backgrounds, and commitment to empowering socioeconomically disadvantaged students make Dr. Dunn a tenacious social entrepreneur.
